We meet people. Everyday. They are sometimes here for a moment, or for what seems like a lifetime. You can cross them at the bank, a cafe, in line at the airport. They are no one to you, you are no one to them; at least at that moment, they are not. But when you let them in or let them come just a little close, they teach you something and you teach them something too. You will never know what it is you are teaching, only they know and ironically they never share it with you. We always search for what it is that others teach us when they are long gone but we never stop to think what we have taught others unintentionally just by being ourselves. This is not a love story, but rather a story of love. Friends, lovers, husbands, wives, best friends, soul mates, relationships that never made it to the finish line; your finish line. That finish line is a painted portrait of the people who will always be there, the ones that came and stayed. Just like a painting they are yours forever only until life washes them away as paint might do. But what about the ones who crossed our paths only to keep going? The ones who let us go and the ones we let go. When we bring others in, our hearts tell us to receive them as a whole, all at once. Yet when we choose to let go our hearts do it in parts, piece by piece. One begins to wonder why what, or how did things end in a way you did not want or possibly want all because it is what was best. Heartache makes us forget that for every person, there is a lesson and an experience. Others do not come into our lives and touch our hearts for nothing. There is always a reason they have come and gone and that reason is you. They build your story. They give us something and once we find what that is, is when we are able to let go a little more than we did yesterday. The parts won't feel like pieces anymore. Sometimes they walk back in only to teach us something all over again, something new, something old; and there you are teaching them as well. Life lacks a sense of humor some days, but every now and then we can say life is a funny thing because you meet incredible people you love, like and adore or can't get enough of. But then they have to go- you have to go. There are more strangers to meet, more people to love and grow on. Different types of love will come our way taking the place of the old ones only to find out later it did not take the place of the old flames of love and friendship or soulmates; it took a place in the build that is the person you are learning to be. That's the thing about goodbyes, they still hold love in them and that's the most beautiful fulfilling part of it. As people we can hurt, love, heal, only to love all over again. You too are a passer-by, someone's lifetime, someone's moment, someone's stranger. You too are someone's teacher whether you choose to be or not. It's about letting go and embracing the goodbyes to appreciate the see you later. The ones who are next to you at your finish line. Never forget you are also crossing paths and you too will keep going. And maybe, just maybe one day all the ones who came and gone will someday come back to us in another life when we're all cats. But for now, there is more love to give, because love never goes out of style.
